"Sweater Away (For the Summer)" occurred to me when I was putting my sweater away for the summer. I get a lot of song ideas that way, just doing a thing and idly singing about it without thinking too much, another example being when I tore down my shed and wrote "Hey Where Mah Shed Done Gone?". I could write far more songs than I could ever record if I gave equal attention to all of those ideas the way I did to the sweater and the shed ones. Lol.

I included this song because I thought it would be the easiest one to play from the new album I'm working on with the theme of "The Gifts of The Holy Spirit", on which every song corresponds to one of those or its total absence.

Lyrics:

I'm puttin' my sweater
Away for the summer
I'm thinkin' about all the good times we had
I'm puttin' my sweater
Away for the summer
I'm not gonna let myself think about anything sad

I'm thinkin' that the summer might not be so bad
I'm thinkin' that the summer might not be so bad

I'm drinkin' this water
To honor my father
I'm not gonna touch the whiskey I should never have had
I'm missin' my mother
This time is a bother
I'm thinkin' that the desert might not be so bad
