"Leave Slow" is one I wrote while procrastinating driving back to my place after spending the weekend elsewhere. It doesn't really require any explanation as it's just an exact, literal snapshot of my life at that moment. I'm right back in that little white and purple kitchen looking out on 43rd Avenue when I sing it.

It was requested in the comments last week and I like it a lot and it's really easy to play so here it is. I tried remixing the original recording from 22 years ago and it was fine but I wanted a little more motion in the guitar part and I had other ideas about melody variations and arabesques so this here is a new recording.

Lyrics:

Monday is here and so you've gone to work
I'll drive back to my place and call you
tonight when I'm done with these things that I do
But I wish I could stay like I want to

The dishes are done and I guess I could go
The cats are asleep and they're dreamin' I know
It's spring so I don't have to drive through the snow
But there's something about you that makes me
leave slow

The week will go by and our work will get done
Then comes the weekend we always have fun
With our things to do list at a hundred and one
Save it for a rainy day, here comes the sun

The dishes are done and I guess I could go
The cats are asleep and they're dreamin' I know
It's spring so I don't have to drive through the snow
But there's something about you that makes me
leave slow
