"If I Had My Way" first appeared in 2004 on Live at Doc's Landing by Justin Bell & Lazy Susan. A studio version came out on Something Else Entirely two years later. I highly recommend Something Else Entirely. After listening to all of the J. Bell & Lazy Susan Band albums recently, SEE is currently my favorite. More information on the album is here:

I wanted to play it because I love the song first of all, but also because Justin was one of the people who encouraged me to do the livestream. Doing a studio version also allowed me to take a shot at the wonderful vocal harmonies and the brilliant, melodic guitar solo J Bell created. Finally, the song is about wanting to make things right but not having the power or ability to do it, which really resonated with me right now.

Lyrics:
If I had my way, we'd all be okay
You'd always be warm and dry from the storm
If I had my way
And if I was good, I'd do what I could
to make you feel whole, I'd light up your soul
If I was good
And time would bend, and this aching would end
In all your dark skies, the sun would rise up again
And if I was right, I'd turn out the light
Forget what I said and just come to bed
If I was right
And if I was brave, well I'd never cave
I'd always stand strong, admit when I'm wrong
If I was brave
And time would bend, and this aching would end
In all your dark skies, the sun would rise up again
Solo over verse
And time would bend, and this aching would end
In all your dark skies, the sun would rise up again
Solo over half verse, plagal cadence
