"the blame" is definitely about a specific thing that happened to me, but I can not tell anyone what it is because I use it as a security question on my internets. The lowercase title is on purpose, much like many of the original song titles as listed on The Beatles (White Album). I loved playing this song with Jubilant Dogs. That exact combination of people was the perfect vehicle for this song.
Lyrics:
Sometimes people would say it was a crime
Sometimes people would say it was a shame
Sometimes people would say it was a cryin' shame
And they want me to take the blame
Sometimes people would say it was a shame
Sometimes people would say it was a sin
Sometimes people would say it was a shame and sin
I knock and they won't let me in
It's all really starting to happen and it's all too big for me
Maybe I will have to change my name to protect my animosity
Sometimes people would say it was wrong
Sometimes people would say it was wrong
Sometimes people would say it was wrong it was wrong
it was wrong it was wrong
But I knew all along
All the things that they know now I knew all along
Sometimes I have visions yes and sometimes they come true
Usually I can't believe in them but you know sometimes I just do
Sometimes people would say it was a crime, crime
Sometimes people would say it was a shame, shame
Sometimes people would say it was a cryin' shame
And they want me to take the blame
